What do you think of Mentaiko?

If you love Japanese food, you’ve probably heard of Mentaiko — spicy cod
roe with a unique salty, savory flavor.

But did you know that there’s more than one way to enjoy it?

At Kutsurogi, we offer you two different ways to experience Mentaiko:
Nama Mentaiko and Aburi Mentaiko.

They may look similar at first, but the flavor and experience are
completely different.

Nama Mentaiko
Our Nama Mentaiko is enjoyed fresh, with a delicate texture and a subtle,
satisfying bite.

But we don’t stop there.
We pair our Nama Mentaiko with fragrant sesame oil, creating an incredible
combination of flavors.
The slightly firm texture of the Mentaiko, its characteristic savory
saltiness, and the rich aroma of sesame oil come together beautifully.

The moment you take a bite, the aroma of sesame oil spreads through your
mouth, perfectly complementing the bold flavor of the Mentaiko.
Simple, yet incredibly addictive.

Aburi Mentaiko
If you prefer something with a little more aroma and depth, why not try our
Aburi Mentaiko?
The surface of the Mentaiko is lightly torched, creating a beautifully
fragrant, slightly smoky aroma.

The outside develops a delicious roasted flavor, while the inside remains
soft and juicy.
That contrast between the lightly charred exterior and the fresh Mentaiko
inside makes every bite incredibly satisfying.

And when the warm, smoky aroma of the torched Mentaiko meets its rich,
savory flavor… it’s hard to stop at just one bite.

Which one would you choose?
